Desired Outcomes:
In the fall of 2014, Marion's Director of Park and Recreation and two E&H faculty members developed the following outcomes for the project:

- Town of Marion will receive data sets on town residents to be used for this and potentially other projects related to senior citizens.
- Town of Marion will receive formal set of recommendations, based on data, to achieve desired changes with senior citizens center.
- Sociology 101 students will gain experience in social science research methods including developing surveys, conducting door-to-door canvassing, and focus group facilitation. Students will gain hands-on experience with members of the Marion community and become more aware of issues facing its senior citizens.
- PPCS 200 students will gain experience organizing and coordinating data gathering activities (canvassing, focus groups, etc.) and will gain experiencing in developing a public presentation to be given to persons with decision-making capacities. Students will gain hands-on experience with members of the Marion community and become more aware of issues facing its senior citizens.
- Potential for ongoing relationships/projects between town of Marion and departments of Sociology and Public Policy & Community Service.
- Students from both courses (SOCI 101 and PPCS 200) will have the opportunity to produce TANGIBLE outcomes for the town of Marion and its senior citizens.
